Enable automatic powerfail recovery

Tricarb Monitor is capable to resume data logging after a power failure. For this to work it is necessary to manipulate the autoexec.bat file of your MS-DOS system and the Startup group (Autostart in some languages) of your Windows installation.

Modifying your autoexec.bat

Please make a backup copy of your autoexec.bat before editing this file. E.g. type in the Dos box:

     C:\>copy autoexec.bat autoexec.bak

Windows must be started by the autoexec.bat file. If this is not yet the case, please add the line:

win

to the end of autoexec.bat (giving the full path if necessary). Please make sure that no other command before win can lock the startup process. This might happen e.g. if a virus checker is started or if a DOS shell like Norton Commander is started by autoexec.bat first. In these cases, please comment these lines out by preceeding them with a REM. Please also verify that no time-consuming processes like a defragmenter are started before win.

Adding Tricarb Monitor to your Startup group

To automatically launch Tricarb Monitor when Windows starts, simply copy the Tricarb Monitor icon from its group to the Startup group. To this end, maximize the Program Manager window and open both the Startup group and the group where you installed Tricarb Monitor in the first place. Then drag & drop the icon to the Startup group while keeping the Shift key pressed down to copy the icon.
